Jason Burton - Lead Instructor

Jason Burton is the lead instructor and founder of JB Kung Fu. Jason was introduced to Ving Tsun by a senior instructor of Wong Shun Leung himself. Jason was impressed by how using minimal effort and simple actions the instructor was able to put his students in a position from which they couldn't recover. These movements were so subtle, that Jason just couldn't understand at the time how the Ving Tsun actions were so powerful. Once Jason began to understand this art of fighting, he was completely hooked and he was awarded his own instructor certificate from the Wong shun Leung Ving Tsun kung fu association UK. Jason is passionate about teaching Ving Tsun correctly through utilising and understanding how the forms are applied to actual fighting without resorting to muscle strength to mask poor structure and poor ground power generation. In 2021 Jason became a licensed instructor with the BMABA (British Martial Arts and Boxing Association)

About Us

Our interpretation of Ving Tsun

The byproduct of this art is for close quarter fighting. The more I studied the art, the more I realised it was about your interpretation. My lateral thinking and questioning how this art could protect myself in fighting situations. The forms we practice, teaches us good awareness. I'd actualy not have to fight. If I got into a fight then I've done 99 things wrong to end up 100% in conflict. Upon realising this, more you study the art. This art should not be learned to mimic the teacher. You are guided and encouraged to develop your own strengths and work on weaknesses. We all have different abilities. If we know weaknesses on the human body, we can use this to protect ourselves greatly by striking these weak body parts. This is why I focus on training striking vulnerable parts on the body. This potentially would benefit us for striking to escape to be able to seek help and be safe.
